The first priority would be to introduce the Kansas Education Liberty Act since over 50% of the state budget is used for education. This will increase choices, improve the quality of education and alleviate the tax burden upon Kansans. We would increase private-public partnerships to reverse government growth and spending. The Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) is currently underfunded by 8.3 Billion Dollars and covers 1 in 11 Kansans. We would transition it from a defined benefit plan to a defined contribution plan in steps to mirror the private sector. It benefits the state and the employees.
